Please join us on Tuesday, May 10 at 6:00 p.m. Lookout to learn more about the dos and don’ts for planning and promoting a media event! In the midst of all the excitement, it’s easy to overlook things like do I need a permit? Or are police required to oversee my event? And some of you may be wondering what the best way is to invite media to an event to ensure a strong turn-out. Or how do I prepare my spokesperson for a wide range of interviews? With so many things to consider, it’s hard to cover all of your bases unless you’ve planned several of these types of events before. Luckily, we’ve got a great panel of speakers that that will share their experiences and expertise on this topic and answer your questions on how to best plan and promote a media event. Our panelists include:

Shannan Boyer: Shannan is the Marketing Manager for The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, northern Kentucky's largest multidisciplinary arts venue, located in Covington, KY. She has more than ten years (7 years with an agency) of experience in national and local media relations, special event planning, crisis communications, spokesperson training, and employee communications and with social media executions. Shannan has organized several media events such as McCormick & Schmick's grand opening, the Children's Hospital Liberty Township location groundbreaking and the Carnegie Front Plaza dedication ceremony to name a few. Gina Holt: Gina Holt has been the Public Relations Coordinator with the award-winning Kenton County Public Library for 3-1/2 years. She promotes more than 150 monthly programs, works with the media, assists with the planning of the Library Foundation’s 5K, and oversees the Library’s social media. Prior to joining the Library staff, she worked as a freelance reporter for five years. You could find her byline in Cincinnati Family Magazine, Soapbox, The Kentucky Enquirer, Cincinnati Women and several other publications. Most recently, Gina coordinated the Kenton County Public Library Covington Renovations & Expansion Project Groundbreaking. She was also responsible for the Holly Hill Children’s Visitation Center Ribbon Cutting and the Kenton County Public Library Administrative Building Ribbon Cutting and Open House. Lauren Doyle: Lauren is an Account Supervisor at Wordsworth Communications where she oversees several of the agency’s account teams, including those serving the higher education, senior living, retail, construction and public housing industries. Her professional background includes nearly eight years of experience in B2B and B2C public relations, media relations, social media executions, strategic planning and account management. Lauren has lots of experience in planning media events such as the grand re-opening of Government Square, the public launch of the Freestore Foodbank's rebranding effort, and launch of Kroger's "Sharing Courage" breast cancer awareness initiative among many others.
