There is nothing more challenging than love. It's been compared to insanity, as some of us would go to great lengths and make many sacrifices just to hold on to that feeling. There is nothing like it. I would tell you that I have been acquainted with love as I have conveyed the the words "I love you" so many times in my life. However, affirming that statement would be difficult. Prior to prison I thought that I met the girl of my dreams and the former me would tell you how I was madly in love. Fast forward to the present, I questioned my outlook and approach to love. I realized that falling in love was mostly physical if not totally and I never took the time to understand the person I was in love with on a mental level. Which brings me to question "had I not came to prison, would we still be together". I feel that no matter how good you are to a person, if you have not taken the time to know and love them mentally, then a relationship will not last. But I have seen relationships between two individuals last for decades even while incarcerated and I find it incredible. I can only conclude that two individuals who stay together during and after incarceration are really content on what they truly want. Each other.....
