The Ohio Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) empowers older adults to prevent, detect, and report Medicare fraud, scams, and identity theft. SMP provides group education and outreach along with individualized fraud-reporting case management services. We train volunteers throughout the state to be fraud fighters in their own communities, representing SMP at events and presentations for older adults and providers who work with them.

In 2025, SMP provided 1,002 educational presentations to seniors. Through these programs, 82,583 older adults, families, and providers were reached and 293 beneficiaries received individual assistance and support to prevent, detect and report Medicare fraud. SMPs play a unique role in the fight against Medicare fraud, errors, and abuse. SMP volunteers and staff serve as “eyes and ears” in their communities, educating beneficiaries to be the first line of defense.

In 2025, Pro Seniors Legal Assistance handled 9,632 legal matters, had 14,045 Legal Helpline appointments, and assisted 8,457 clients including 959 veteran clients and 5,000 clients with a disability.

Pro Seniors’ statewide Legal Helpline offers Ohio residents aged 60 and over free access to legal information and advice to help resolve issues that threaten their well-being and financial security.

Our staff attorneys provide legal representation to older adults in Southwest Ohio. These services address complex legal issues rarely handled by private attorneys, including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, other public benefits, financial exploitation, consumer law, and housing. Representation may include negotiation or litigation. In addition, our Pension Project assists Ohioans of all ages in securing the retirement benefits they are entitled to receive.
