We’re thrilled to invite you to Mental Health & Mindfulness: Best Practices for Volunteer Administrators and the Volunteers They Support, taking place on April 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Greenacres Foundation in Cincinnati, OH.
This session will be led by The Rev. Dr. Mary Laymon, who will guide us through practical strategies to stay calm, focused, and mindful as volunteer administrators. Together, we’ll explore important questions like:
🔹 How can we stay calm when our volunteers bring anxiety to the table?
🔹 How do we stay focused on our mission when volunteers, often experts in their fields, offer suggestions for doing things differently?
🔹 What practices help us open and close our volunteer gatherings in ways that build community and invite reflection?
Rev. Dr. Laymon brings over 30 years of experience in spiritual leadership and community building. She currently serves as the pastor at St. Simon’s of Cyrene Episcopal Church and as the spiritual leader of The Beloved Community at Tikkun Farm. Her experience in spiritual direction and community leadership will offer valuable insights for both volunteer administrators and volunteers.
We'll be meeting at the brand-new Nippert Barn and Farm Market at Greenacres. Directions to the event: Once you enter the farm driveway, follow the signs for the Nippert Barn, where Greenacres staff will be ready to guide you.

We’re excited to welcome Erin Pittman, Director of Volunteer Services at Mayo Clinic, to lead this session. With over a decade of experience in volunteer management, Erin has built a reputation for creating impactful volunteer programs that align with organizational goals. She’s passionate about fostering a culture where volunteers are integral to the team and creating meaningful roles that span generations.

Since 2010, Erin has been a leader in volunteer management. From her early work at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Northern Kentucky to her current role at Mayo Clinic, Erin has spearheaded programs that integrate volunteers into healthcare environments and build community partnerships. At Mayo Clinic, she is leading the development of a modern volunteer program that champions both organizational success and volunteer satisfaction.
