Woodland Cemetery is also the final resting place for a number of notable African Americans, offering a history of both pride and shame. Black poet Carrie Clifford, who helped found the NAACP's predecessor, is buried here. And, so is Sara Lucy Bagby Johnson, the last person to be arrested and tried as a fugitive slave, according to the website Cleveland Historical.

You can also see many graves of members of the "Freeman Society" and people who participated in the "Underground Railroad"

Ohio's Living Wage and Republican Minimum Wage Roadblock

MIT calculates a living wage before Taxes in Ohio ranges from $42,400 for a single adult to $110,283 for a family with 2 working adults and 2 children.
A living wage includes Food, Child Care, Medical, Housing, Transportation, Civic activities, Internet & Mobile, Other(s), and Annual taxes. The living wage also assumes full-time employment at 40 hours per week, 52 weeks a year.

To earn a living wage at Ohio’s minimum wage of $11 per hour, a single adult must work 3,855 hours (equivalent to 1.85 Years) in a ONE-year period, and a family with 2 working adults and 2 children must work 10,026 hours (equivalent to 2.41 years per adult).

The Republicans have made it impossible for W2 families to pull themselves out of generational poverty!

The Fight For Democracy

America’s history reflects a long struggle to fulfill the promise of the Declaration of Independence and the 13th Amendment, embodying the ideals of Freedom, Justice, and Opportunity for all. There are strong arguments that our Democracy faces threats today, but the fight for these ideals must continue.
I remain hopeful when I think of the victories our Black compatriots achieved through the Civil Rights Movement, such as ending Jim Crow, and the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Voting Rights Act of 1965, and Fair Housing Act of 1968.
Under the oligarchs' control of the US economy, workers' persistent efforts and sacrifices for the right to collective bargaining led to the passage of the National Labor Relations Act of 1935, despite threats to their lives and criminal charges. Both the Civil Rights Movement and the Workers’ Struggle were remarkable successes against the odds.
The fight for Freedom, Justice, and Opportunity continues and demands our renewed effort to protect and expand the rights that our mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters fought so hard for!

Where should State Auditors focus?
We can all agree that fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayers' funds are important concerns for all of us. The Ohio State Auditor, Keith Faber, acknowledges that the program supported by all Ohio taxpayers has been marred by fraud!

The typical Republican response is to begin hyperbolic stumping and first disrupt programs that support families. Seldom do they mention the difference between intentional fraud and honest error, or underpayments and overpayments.

Let us take a closer look at the US Congress reports on Errors and Fraud in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP),( CRS Products (Library of Congress) > R45147 Sept 2018)
1) The report states that SNAP fraud is relatively rare, based on available data and reports.
2) A great deal of the fraud and errors is due to vendors and retailers.
3) Out of every 10,000 households participating in SNAP, about 14 households contained a recipient who was investigated and found to have committed fraud.
4) For every $10,000 paid in SNAP benefits, about $11 is determined by state agencies to have been overpaid due to recipient fraud. Less than 1%
Compared with IRS 2022, 15% of Total Taxes Due were NOT collected!!
As your House Representative, I make sure the Republicans are focused in the right direction

The State of Ohio Auditor, Keith Farber, acknowledges that 60% entities with Ohio Tax Credits or Incentives are out of compliance, because no one was checking. Is this the best the Republicans in Columbus can do for Ohio Families? Watch the Interview!!

The Battle for Working Families
The Republican Roadblocks and Ohio’s Working Families.

Republicans' regressive taxes have placed a larger income burden on working families than on the top 1%.

Republican cuts to education deny working families the ability to find improved employment opportunities, end generational poverty, and build a prosperous future for all Ohioans.
Republican support for large data centers has and will continue to drive up energy costs for working families.

Republican attacks on the Unions undermine working families' ability to negotiate a mutually agreed contract with employers.

The Republican minimum wage of $11 per hour would require a single adult to work 1.85 years to earn a living annual salary of $42,400.

The Republican failure to improve the living standards of our children in Ohio. As demonstrated by the high Infant Mortality Rates, poor educational outcomes, and lack of affordable child care.

The Republican inability to administer benefits programs, such as SNAP, Medicare, and Medicaid, is demonstrated by excessive payment inaccuracy rates.

The Republican roadblocks to working families' right to vote.

As your Ohio House District 18 representative, I will endlessly strive to make the ideals of Freedom, Justice, and Opportunity a reality for all. I am ready, able, and prepared to battle against the Republican roadblocks for Ohio working families.
