Last night was a fantastic "drive through" Independence Tree Lighting Celebration through Elmwood Park for the Independence children to receive their Santa Stocking gift and the adults to receive popcorn balls! At the end of the route, the families were greeted by Santa Claus and Mayor Kurtz and First Lady Lyn! The children had a chance to chat from their vehicles with Santa about their Christmas lists and say "Ho, Ho, Ho" along with Santa! The evening ended with over 20 minutes of fireworks to kick off the Holiday Season! Thank you for a great combined extra effort by our City employees for making this such a successful event! Elmwood Park never looked so festive! Merry Christmas to all and God bless!

This past Monday, Cleveland's own Mike Trivisonno generously bestowed lunch on our Independence men in blue! Joe Burdick Custom Flags also gifted our Independence Police Department with one of his hand made beautiful wooden flags. This flag will be displayed at the IPD and a flag that was previously gifted to Mayor Kurtz is displayed outside the Mayor's office! Thank you to "Triv" and Joe for your generosity and thoughtfulness! Mayor and wife Lyn were honored to be part of this beautiful day!

Friday's Senior Residents Drive Thru lunch pick up! A very popular event and the seniors could not be more appreciative for lunch and the opportunity to say hello to Mayor Kurtz and the Community Services Team! Stay healthy!

Our focus is to keep our community, residents, families, employees, seniors and students safe.

Please refer to the City’s website for our weekly Administrative Updates and our weekly Swift Reach announcements. I will continue to do my best to keep you informed.
