A huge thank you to our partners at Enbridge Gas Ohio for their generous donation to our disaster relief fund! We're so grateful for this incredible gift that will support our lifesaving mission in Northern Ohio.

Additionally, our Enbridge friends recently donated their time and talents to help install more than 130 smoke alarms, helping make more than 50 homes in both Cleveland and Akron safer!

The work we do to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies is simply not possible with the support of organizations like Enbridge and the people who make them great.

Showing up matters!

Join the Red Cross Disaster Services Shelter Training and Operations Exercise on Saturday, October 24th from 9 am-4 pm at Camp Sabroske, 4405 W Toussaint North Road, Oak Harbor, OH 43449.

This exercise is designed to strengthen the partnership between the Red Cross and the community with hands-on shelter training. The goal is to build local capacity to establish, manage and demobilize a shelter in response to emergencies.

Red Cross volunteer Todd Moskowitz is one of several volunteers from Northern Ohio who are joining the hundreds of others from across the country responding to the Gulf Coast in the wake of Hurricane Isaias.

The storm made landfall last night as a powerful Category 2 hurricane near Destin, Florida, leaving more than 800,000 without power in Florida, Alabama and Mississippi. While Isaias has weakened, the threat of severe rain, flooding and tornadoes remains as the storm moves more inland.

Emergency planning as an older adult?

Consider your medical needs such as medications and assistive devices. Keep prescription information and doctor's contact information readily available in case you need to refill your prescription in an emergency.

Identify friends, family, or neighbors who will be able to help you in an emergency. Set up a communication plan with those people so you have multiple ways to reach one another.

Know how you will get emergency alerts and warnings such as ReadyNotify or a NOAA Weather Radio.

Today we celebrated some incredible people who exemplify the Red Cross spirit at the 2026 Hero Awards of North Central Ohio. One of those people is our very own Cas Robertson, pictured here with her family.

Cas has been a Red Crosser for the past several years and has deployed to more than 20 major disasters across the country, and at least one halfway around the world in Guam. She is also part of our Disaster Action Team, responding to home fires in and around her own community. Today, she was awarded the Clara Ayres Award for Extraordinary Service - a well-deserved honor!

Thank you, Cas, and all of our heroes who make the world a better place. ❤️
