Tonight's city council work session will focus on term limits. When this matter previously came before the council as an item on the business agenda, it was my suggestion to table the conversation until we could discuss term limits more fully in a work session. I also conducted an informal social media poll to assess public opinion.

The public is welcome to attend this session. Also, I am open to personal feedback via messaging, email, phone, or text. What are your thoughts on term limits?

Our recycling program here in Clinton has been operational for about a month. Each time I put something in the recycle bin, it makes my heart happy!

If you're still on the fence about whether you'll opt out and return your blue barrel, here are five logical reasons to keep the can!

1. Recycling extends the life of the Davis landfill. Once the landfill is full, our trash will be hauled away to a backup site in Utah County. Opting in to our recycling program costs $6/month. Hauling all of Davis County's trash out to Utah County will be more expensive. Here is more info: https://www.wasatchintegrated.gov/davis-transfer-station/

2. Recycling reduces emissions caused by long-distance trash hauling.

3. Recycling certain papers and plastics contributes to making engineered fuel for industrial cement kilns. This engineered fuel replaces coal.

4. Recycling protects wildlife by slowing the destruction and pollution of natural habitats, waterways, and wetlands.

5. Making products from recycled materials uses much less power than making them from raw materials. For example, recycling aluminum cans saves 95% of the energy needed to make new ones. Recycling paper saves trees and reduces manufacturing waste.

Many thanks to the Clinton City Fire Department and Clinton PD for this evening's 9-11 tribute and memorial. I am grateful to the parents who brought their young children to witness this historic 25th anniversary. I pray that the rising generation will never witness such a tragedy on American soil, but they need to know that freedom isn't free. I am grateful to the heroes in our country who keep us safe and bravely run to our aid when safety is compromised. God bless America.
