The Impact of Evictions on Youth **

Youth are particularly vulnerable to discrimination and exploitation when they are renters, and this disadvantage is profoundly intersectional. For example, youth report difficulty accessing affordable and decent rental housing due to age and income-based discrimination.

Youth are also among the groups most likely to experience eviction from rental housing, with Indigenous, newcomer, LGBTQ2S+ youth, youth with disabilities or who are single parents, and youth who have been involved with the child welfare system facing the highest risk of eviction (Gaetz et al, 2018; Youngbloom et al, 2022). In other words, the risk of eviction rises along with vulnerability and layers of systemic disadvantage.

Child and Youth Homelessness Continues to Increase — We Know What Works, Will Congress Act? | First Focus on Children 09/13/2024

Child and youth homelessness was on the rise even before the outbreak of COVID-19, and since then, the high cost of rent and food combined with the loss of the improved Child Tax Credit and some other vital assistance means that increasing numbers of children, youth, and families are struggling with homelessness and poverty and the trauma associated with these ills.

For My Birthday ( 8/16/)

I'm asking '18' Family, Friends & Associates To Like, Share & Donate in order to raise awareness as WE continue to serve Columbus's Youth -

Why the focus on 18? Honestly, our system has not done will positioning foster youth for successful independence when they leave the system. Aging out at 18 (In some cases it’s 21) should not be an option for youth who have not been prepared to care for and support themselves...Keys to Successful Housing LLC has been filling that gap **

Would you give an $18 gift towards our AWARENESS mission and partner with us in impacting our city? Thank you in advance for your support. Humbled by your generosity,

......November 28, 2023

If we truly want to end youth homelessness… then we have to invest in prevention and support programs as they work to implement these life-changing efforts - Not all young people have the benefit of growing up in a safe and stable home. This scenario often occurs during an important developmental period can inject trauma into a young person’s life, limit their growth and carry costly community consequences.....It is time for a proactive, rather than reactive, approach to youth homelessness. As a nation, we are missing opportunities to ensure that all young people can reach their full potential and contribute to strengthening our communities.

Community networking helps bridge the connectivity gap*

Networking occurs at a variety of levels. At the level of neighborhoods and communities, it is a matter of creating productive relationships with other members of the community. In many instances, parties meet to share resources, contacts, and information with one another. As a result of these conversations and newly found connections, individuals often find jobs, locate apartments, develop new skills and build a lasting network of valuable resources. It serves to empower individuals & communities, which can lead to constructive thinking and new solutions.

Not all young people have the benefit of growing up in a safe and stable home. In fact: Across America, 1 in 30 youth between the ages of 13 to 24 and 1 in 10 young adults between the ages of 18 to 25 will experience homelessness over the course of a year. This scenario — which occurs during an important developmental period — can inject trauma into a young person’s life, limit their growth and carry costly community consequences.....It is time for a proactive, rather than reactive, approach to youth homelessness. As a nation, we are missing opportunities to ensure that all young people can reach their full potential and contribute to strengthening our communities.

House Republicans Pass Disastrous Budget Proposal Gutting HUD Affordable Housing and Homelessness Resources – Take Action! 05/01/2023

It is unacceptable to balance the federal budget by demanding cuts to programs that help the lowest-income households survive. There is a national shortage of approximately 7.3 million affordable, available homes for people with the lowest incomes, and only one in four households who qualify for federal housing assistance receives the help it needs. Without adequate funding for vital federal affordable housing and homeless assistance programs, households with the lowest incomes will continue to live precariously, only one missed paycheck or unexpected emergency away from housing instability, eviction, and, in the worst cases, homelessness.

House Republicans Pass Disastrous Budget Proposal Gutting HUD Affordable Housing and Homelessness Resources – Take Action! The U.S. House of Representatives passed the “Limit, Save, and Grow Act” (H.R.2811) on April 26 by a party-line vote of 217-215. If enacted, the bill would lift the federal debt ceiling in exchange for massive spending cuts to federal domestic programs in fiscal year (FY) 2024, including HUD’s...
