ABOUT ME
My name is Matt Klingler, and I have decided to run for one of the open Bexley City Council positions. I strongly believe in the values of honesty, sincerity, transparency and respectfully serving others before self. I strive daily to live my life through these values and will do so as a servant of the Bexley community should I be elected.
I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, went to school in Bexley at St. Charles Preparatory School, and then went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Agriculture and a minor in Business. I have a been a mechanical construction project manager for Farber Corporation for nearly 11 years. Farber Corporation is a small family owned mechanical contractor that has been serving Central Ohio and surrounding communities for 50 years. My project management experience in the construction field has helped sharpen my abilities to collaborate, compromise and cooperate with people from all walks of life. These abilities are vital to leaders of any organization, but especially one as diverse as Bexley. I plan on bringing these qualities to City Council.
I could not have tackled the endeavor of running for City Council without the love and support of my wife and two children. Jessika and I have been married for 9 years, and have lived in Bexley for 3 years. We found Bexley to be the perfect place to raise our 2 children. Cole (7) and Taylor (6) attend Cassingham Elementary, and absolutely love the Bexley schools system as well as the programs that the Parks and Rec Department provide.
What do I want to accomplish?
First, Bexley is a wonderful community with excellent government services and a plethora of programs for the community. I want to be an excellent steward for the citizens of Bexley, and decipher ways to bolster what is already in place so that we can provide a brighter Bexley for our youth.
Specifically, I want to get involved with the Parks and Rec department to strengthen the programs and spaces for the youth and senior citizens of Bexley. I believe the senior citizens provide a great value as a part of our community, and there should be more to offer for them.
Because Bexley is a large walking and biking community, we need to always search for ways to make it safer for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. One example of this would be making the current crosswalks (e.g. the crosswalk between just north of the Drexel and Main St. intersections) more visible and safer to vehicular traffic. I want to also work with the City of Columbus to slow vehicular traffic on the Columbus - Bexley Boundary streets.
Continuing business development on the main Bexley thoroughfares of Livingston, Main St and Cassidy is also a goal of mine. Because we are such a diverse community, I believe we should have the most diverse and best places to eat, shop and visit in Central Ohio. I will work hard to bring this to the community.

Some thoughts from Bexley neighbors
“I have known Matt Klingler and his family since he was in grade school. Matt is a stable, caring, mature young man who loves his family, his community and his fellow man. I cannot think of a better candidate for the Bexley city council. Matt has always been for doing the right thing, not just the popular thing” -- Bobby Cull, Bexley PD (retired)
“I’ve seen Matt in action with the men’s group at our church…He’s a real motivator to young and old (wiser)!Matt’s experience in the construction industry gives him a keen insight into understanding how the “details” and the “whole” are interconnected. He’s a systematic thinker.” -- Peter Krajnak, Bexley neighbor and Knight of Columbus
