Welcome to the National Guard family, PVT SilvaHernandez. She is our newest Combat Engineer (12B). After she completes her initial training she plans to attend OSU to study engineer using her 100% National Guard college scholarship and GI Bill.

As a Combat Engineer, you'll get your team out of any tough spot. You'll supervise and assist your team as it tackles rough terrain during combat operations. You will also construct fighting positions, prime and detonate explosives, and become an expert in general engineering.

JOB DUTIES

Build fighting positions, defensive positions, and floating or fixed bridges
Place and detonate explosives
Clear paths of obstacles
Install firing systems for demolition
Detect mines visually or with mine detectors.

Congratulations on your enlistment, PVT Kpadeh. This process has not been a quick one but you have been patient, dedicated, and persistent. You’re going to be a great addition to the Ohio Army National Guard.

91B - As a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll supervise and perform maintenance, repair, and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and select armored vehicles that serve the Army in a variety of mission-critical roles. You’ll inspect, service, maintain, repair, replace, adjust, and test wheeled vehicles, material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components, and automotive electrical systems, including wiring harnesses and starting and charging systems.

Today was a great day with Ms. Wills, the Assistant Principal of high school. Even though the weather literals rained on our parade and we weren’t able to ride the CH-47, it was great to spend the day learning about all the great things the Guard has to offer.

The Chinook (CH-47) is the U.S. Army's only heavy-lift cargo helicopter supporting combat and other missions. Secondary missions include medical evacuation, search and rescue, parachute drops, disaster relief and aircraft recovery. The CH-47 is considered the “workhorse” of the U.S. Army helicopter fleet.

Today was such an amazing day! The Aviation students can put to Rickenbacker Air Base to tour the Army National Guard Flight facility.

They got to check out some of the safety equipment our pilots use, see the behind the scenes work that makes our organization successful, and even play around in the Black Hawk.

We had some of our full time staff on hand answering questions and teaching these young aviators all about the daily life of aviation ✈️
