Bill Clay for Teays Valley School Board

First off I want to congratulate Roxanne, Karen and Bill. At the meet the candidate night I said there was no bad choice and I meant that.

I want to thank everyone that supported me. I spent $0 on this campaign and with our adoption and time out of the country I only had a month and a half to campaign and we still got 18.8% of the votes and only lost by 336 votes. I couldn't be happier.

I am humbled that 1299 people supported me and had faith in me for no other reason than knowing what I stood for.

My plan is to continue to pour into the students the same I did before this started. My value has always rested in God and I can walk away from this knowing I ran a race that glorified Him. I never changed who I was and never hid my faith and that was my primary goal.

I'll continue to be a voice for parents and students don't worry about that!

I'm just a parent that wants to be a voice for parents and students on the board. I feel having a parent with students in the district is important and if you agree I would appreciate your vote.

This is why I'm running for the Teays Valley School Board. My family and yours, nothing more and nothing less. I don't have some grand plan to optimize test scores or an agenda to get more funding for a specific program. I simply want to be a voice for the kids and a voice for the parents.

I've been asked what I was going to do to get my name out there or drum up support. My answer is simple, nothing I don't already do. Going in to this campaign I committed to spend no money because my family needs it as we continue to grow. I committed to not just going out to be seen. I served before I ran and continue to serve in many different ways but my service isn't to get votes it's to give back and help the students.

I would truly appreciate your vote tomorrow! My commitment to you is to stay true to my word, to serve our kids and to listen to your concerns as a fellow parent.

I wanted to take a second a thank everyone for your support! I also wanted to answer a question I've had a couple times.

My campaign is primarily word of mouth. As much as I would love to be out placing signs, financially I have to be very conservative in my spending.

Our family has been truly blessed by many members of our community. If you don't know we just recently brought home our little girl from the Philippines. It's been a long 5+ year process and the amount of prayers and financial support has been amazing.

For that reason I can't in good conscious ask for donations to this campaign nor can I justify spending a bunch as we are still trying to take care of our adoption while providing for our family.

If you would like to support this campaign I ask that you share this page and ask friends to do the same. My passion for this district and these students are unwavering and with your help I know we can win and I can bring this passion to the Teays Valley School Board.

If elected I would be the only member on the board that currently has children in the district. As a member of this community I feel that's important. I see first hand how the decisions made impact the students and families.

This is a fact I will not take lightly as I work for the kids and their families.

I am excited to have your support in my run for a seat on the Teays Valley School Board! If you don't know me I want to share my heart behind the decision to run for this position.

I was born and raised in the Teays Valley school district. I attended Ashville Elementary went through Teays Valley Middle School and graduated from Teays Valley High School in 2001 where I met my beautiful wife. After College Kristi and I got married and moved just north of the district but once we found out we were expecting Xavier we knew we had to get back to Teays Valley.

We moved back to Ashville in 2009. Since that time I have dedicated a lot of my time to working with the youth in our district. First I served with the Skate Park and High School youth at our church. In 2015 my wife and I became the advisors for the Teays Valley High School FCA. Over the last 4 years in working with this group I have come to know first hand the struggles they face.

I have two children Xavier 9 and Ami 7 in the Elementary schools and have served in different ways at various events with them. In these interactions and in conversing with other parents I know how great our district is as well as seeing areas we can improve.

My passion is the success of these students. I know so much of what our schools have to do is passed down from the state but how we execute on that is in our hands. Making sure every kid is given the same treatment and chance to succeed is my primary focus!

I also know the world is changing but our decisions as a district have to align with the views and passions of our community.

Teays Valley is the nucleus that brings our community together! I want to do my part to ensure it continues to do that and in a way the reflects communities that make up our great district.

If elected I will do my best to be a voice for the students and the parents because I am one. I would be the only member on the board that is a parent with children currently in the district and that is a fact I will not take lightly!
