March Civic Association Meeting Notes | Sharon Woods Civic Association
Date: March 5, 2026
02/09/2026
The City of Columbus is proposing the addition of dedicated bike lanes on Sharon Woods Blvd from approximately SR 161 to Schrock Rd. The proposed options designate space for bicycle use, will enhance overall safety, and create buffered space from vehicle traffic. Dedicated bike space will provide a connection to existing bike lanes on Schrock Rd and to the shared-use path being installed in phases along SR 161 as part of a corridor safety improvements project from Cleveland Ave to I-71. In the city’s Bike Plus Plan, Sharon Woods Blvd is identified as a priority route.
Currently, Sharon Woods Blvd has bicycle sharrow pavement markings identifying the vehicle lanes for bike use, while the posted speed limit on this through street is 35 mph. Installation of bike lanes will visually narrow the roadway to help slow driver speeds. Dedicated, buffered bike lanes will provide safe space for bike riders separate from vehicle traffic. Neighborhood destinations, including Beechcroft High School, Beechcroft Park, Northgate Intermediate School, Northgate Park, and area churches will have improved safe access by bike.
Sharon Woods Blvd has planned resurfacing in 2026, providing the opportunity to install bike lanes and related pavement markings. The proposed bike lane options may impact on-street parking. The Department of Public Service would like community feedback on these options.
Please direct questions to: Chloe D. Green ([email protected]).
Which option do you prefer?
Please share with the City which option you prefer. Please rank the options from most preferred to least preferred. The deadline to provide feedback is February 19, 2026.
