‼🚨 This warning is highlighting a common type of CELEBRITY IMPERSONATION SCAM.

Scammers create fake profiles or send messages pretending to be well-known people such as Elon Musk, Brad Pitt, Jeff Bezos, or Taylor Swift.

🚩The key warning signs are:
- A celebrity unexpectedly contacts you through social media, email, or messaging apps.
- They promise large sums of money, investments, prizes, or gifts.
- They ask you to buy gift cards and send the codes.
- They ask you to deposit cash into a cryptocurrency or Bitcoin ATM.
- They claim a payment is waiting but require an upfront fee to release it.

Legitimate celebrities do not randomly message people asking for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency deposits, or fees in exchange for a promised payout.

The simplest rule is: IF someone claiming to be a celebrity promises you money but first asks you to pay them, IT. IS. A. SCAM.

🤖 What Is AI?
In simple terms, AI allows computers to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. These tasks can include learning from data, solving problems, understanding speech, recognizing images, and making decisions.

🚨 How is AI being used in scams?
1. Cloning and mimicking voices of loved ones for phone scams
2. Creating fake photographs and videos
3. Creating error-free emails with correct spelling and grammar (misspelled words and poor grammar are usually clues for us)

🛑 Defenses to AI based scams:
1. Expect total impersonation: Never trust a familiar voice or face asking for funds over the phone or video without a secondary check.
2. Establish a safe word: Agree on a private verification password or un-routable personal question with close family members.
3. Verify independently: Hang up and call back on a known, trusted phone number rather than redialing or replying directly.

Check your bank statements, run a credit report, don’t panic! If you do see suspicious activity, make sure you call your bank first and file a report with us IF you need it.

A Georgia Power customer says she almost deleted an email warning her that her personal information may have been exposed, because she thought it was a scam.
