It was a big week for class 25-015 as they executed The Forge. Next week we will hit the ground running, execute some Army Training, and prepare for Basic Training graduation and Family weekend!
The Night Infiltration Course (NIC), often called “NIC at Night,” is a key component of U.S. Army Basic Combat Training and designed to simulate battlefield conditions and test physical and mental resilience. Trainees crawl 100-200 meters through sand, dirt, or obstacles like barbed wire, under live machine gun fire (typically M240B or M60, firing tracer rounds 8-10 feet above) and simulated explosions. Conducted in near-darkness, with occasional flares for illumination, the course builds confidence, composure under stress, and unit cohesion. It’s a graduation requirement and part of “The Forge,” a culminating field exercise.

Class 25-015 in action! This week was focused on qualifying with their M4 with a Close Combat Optic (CCO). The M68 CCO is a non-magnifying, red dot reflex sight. It projects a red dot reticle onto a lens, allowing soldiers to aim quickly and accurately without aligning traditional iron sights. It’s optimized for close-quarters battle (CQB) but effective up to 300 meters.

Back up iron sight qualification! Class 25-015 in action. Targets range from 50 to 300 meters, with multiple target engagements (doubles, triples, or quadruples) to simulate combat decision-making.

This morning Class 25-015 executed the CBRN chamber. My eyes are open, my arms are flapping (IYKYK)! Trainees learn how to properly wear and use their gas masks and other protective gear in a realistic setting. The training aims to build confidence in the soldier's ability to operate effectively while wearing protective gear.

The Team Development Course (TDC) was executed by class 25-015 this morning. In the TDC squads navigate obstacle courses (e.g., rope ladders, bridges) emphasizing collaboration over individual effort. The goal is to teach the Soldiers to rely on each other to overcome challenges utilizing critical thinking and problem solving techniques. Like, Share, and Comment to show your support!
