Star of the Month!

Meet Deanna Powell, a social worker at Galloway Ridge Intermediate School whose dedication and compassion for students are making a meaningful impact.
Powell is being recognized for her unwavering commitment to ensuring that every student has access to the nourishment they need so they can thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Before the first golfers and fans arrived at the Memorial Tournament this morning, explosive detection K9 Zuul and his handler, Deputy Castle, were already hard at work helping keep the event safe and secure.

While spectators enjoy the excitement on the course, dedicated teams like Deputy Castle and K9 Zuul work behind the scenes to help make it all possible.

SCAM ALERT
If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and they request that you send money directly, or want to meet up for payment, it is a scam.
We continue to see reports of scammers impersonating Sheriff’s Office personnel and contacting individuals with false claims that a loved one is in custody. In some cases, they offer to “release” the individual from jail in exchange for payment. These callers often demand unusual forms of payment, such as gift cards, Bitcoin, or payment apps like Chime—clear warning signs of fraud.
We also want to alert the public about a related jury duty scam, where callers claim you missed jury service and must pay a fine immediately to avoid arrest. This is also fraudulent. The Sheriff’s Office, courts, and law enforcement agencies will never demand payment over the phone or threaten arrest for missed jury duty.
Please remember:
The Sheriff’s Office does not accept payment for bonds or release fees.
We will never call you to request money for a loved one’s release.
We will never demand payment for missed jury service.
If you are ever unsure about the legitimacy of a call, hang up immediately and contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office directly at (614) 525-3333 to verify.
