Columbus City Council established area Commissions in the early 1970s. The purpose of an area commission is to act as a liaison between neighborhood groups, property owners, residents, developers and city officials.
The City will be hosting a 311 training at Whetstone library on Monday, May 11th from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

Paving updates from the city:
Details for the expected Indianola Avenue paving schedule (weather dependent) are in the Newsfeed section on the Indianola Ave resurfacing project fact sheet at the following link. Information about on-street parking restrictions is there, too. The project is expected to be completed by the end of May.

In addition, a separate Department of Public Service resurfacing project that will pave Hollenback Rd into Whetstone Park and its parking areas is getting underway through a partnership with Columbus Recreation and Parks. Concrete work is starting soon and, dependent on weather and coordination with Recreation and Parks, paving may start mid-May. Watch for flaggers when crews are milling, paving, striping pavement and installing new speed humps. The project team is working closely with Recreation and Parks to accommodate access to scheduled activities as much as possible while keeping the project on schedule to avoid lengthy disruption and finish by June. We ask that parkgoers be patient and drive slow and safe in the park.
Indianola Avenue - Resurfacing and Bikeways Indianola Resurfacing Project Updates The Indianola Avenue resurfacing and safety improvements project will begin in May 2026 and take approximately 30 days.
