✅ Brand-new budget transparency
✅ Early childhood education access
✅ Safe routes to school
✅ Paid family leave
✅ Tree canopy & environmental justice
✅ Direct, free legal representation to detained immigrants — first in the Midwest
✅ Emergency financial assistance during COVID-19
✅ Police demilitarization
✅ Living wage for city job creation projects
✅ A path for canceling medical debt
✅ Reproductive Justice
✅ Abortion clinic protection legislation
✅ Free and accessible period products
✅ Inclusion of repro choices in nondiscrimination code
✅ $1 million fund for abortion access

None of it happened alone. THANK YOU!

Merry Christmas Eve to all who celebrate! We are as thankful today as we’ve ever been — for family, for shelter, for heat, and for health.

📸 Thank you to as always for the beautiful pictures.

This is a appreciation post! Since my very first day at City Hall seven years ago, Kelsey has been making magic and moving mountains to get things done for Columbus residents, women, and families. During her tenure, constituents were exceptionally well-served, the thorniest of issues were de-thorned, and no detail was overlooked. She epitomizes public service, and I’m deeply grateful for her heart, vision, and dedication to our city. Today, she moves onward to a wonderful new opportunity at COTA. But from all of us at Columbus City Council, you will be missed! And from me, I’m going to have to learn how to survive my days without you! ♥️

I have exciting news to share! Come next year, I will assume the awesome responsibility of CEO of the YWCA Columbus.

Our YWCA works at the intersection of the most pressing issues in our community: unhoused families and affordable housing, childcare access, racial justice, and women’s empowerment. Not only is it a provider of essential services, but it is also a voice for those whose voices have been overlooked. The mission of the YWCA is critically important, and to me it is also deeply personal.

As a child, the larger-than-life figures in my life were my grandmothers. My dad’s mother, Emily Campbell Brown, was a stalwart volunteer with her YWCA. Throughout our nation’s history, the YWCA has been at the tip of the spear when it comes to tackling the most important issues of the time, and for Emily Brown, it was her cause and how she fought. Watching her instilled in me a commitment to the transformational power of the YWCA’s mission.

I am deeply grateful for the support of this city these last seven and a half years since declaring my candidacy for Columbus City Council. While accepting this position means I will be stepping down from Council, I know that what we’ve accomplished together will last and that there is only more ahead. I began my work in politics because of my conviction that laws and policies are not just words written on a page; they have the power to change lives. Changing lives is the everyday work of the YWCA.

We are all indebted to Christie Angel for her incredible leadership the last five years as CEO, and I cannot wait to get to work building on her legacy.

And another one! Come and meet me at the playground at Franks Park (3003 Frazelle Road) this Saturday November 5th from 10:00-11:30am for my community hours. My team and I look forward to seeing you there!

Glinda the Good Witch, Cookie Monster, and a puppy dog. I am not Cool Mom who puts thought into coordinating a family theme so I sure am glad Carolyn and Jackie put their heads together on their own. Scroll for Dorothy and Glinda ♥️

Wow! was a full house tonight for our first ever Columbus Girls’ Summit, brought to you by your City Council women’s caucus.

Let me tell you: the next generation is more than all right. These young women were so impressive in their willingness to show up, share ideas, and build power. They are not our future. They are our present!
