PSA: We love it when people donate needed and requested items for clients. However, we do not love it when people dump items we don't even accept outside our door. We always have to throw these items away, and it just makes it worse for staff when the items are rained on and sometimes worse. So please, donate used clothing and other items we don't accept to one of the wonderful other non-profits who do, and please do not ever dump items outside the door of any org! Thank you!

Yesterday was a great day! We held a 60th anniversary prayer gathering to honor the past and pray for the future. Thank you to our volunteers, donors, elected officials and their representatives, and community partners who attended and showed their support for those we serve. Special thanks to Community Shelter Board CEO Shannon Isom, Southern Ohio Synod ELCA Bishop Dillahunt and our other speakers. Also a thank you to Columbus City Council members Shannon G. Hardin and Tiara Ross for coming!

Residents enjoyed a lunch with chicken sandwiches, potatoes and pineapple the other day. Can you imagine cooking for 250 people three times a day? We 💛our kitchen staff!

Yesterday, we celebrated the grand opening of Venture Place — the first permanent supportive housing program of its kind in Fairfield County. This 24-unit community, managed by our staff, represents a major step forward in addressing chronic homelessness with long-term, evidence-based solutions. This was made possible through years of partnership building, advocacy and collaboration with Fairfield County ADAMH, Fairfield County Commissioners, law enforcement and many other dedicated community partners. Together, we are helping shape a future where more neighbors have access to stable housing, support and hope.

Thank you to Deb and the First United Methodist Church for donating nearly 100 hygiene kits for Veterans experiencing homelessness! These kits were distributed during our Fairfield County Stand Down event last week.

Our wonderful team members at our shelter in Lancaster organized an incredible two-day Fairfield County Veteran Stand Down event that wrapped up yesterday! Over the course of two days, 42 veterans were connected with local resources and support services while also receiving free cell phones, food and drinks, haircuts, hygiene kits and more. A special thank you to Donut World Lancaster Ohio for donating delicious donuts, and to First United Methodist Church and Fairfield County Job and Family Services for providing hygiene kits for veterans in need. We are so grateful to all of the community partners, volunteers and organizations who came together to honor and support those who have served our country.

Thanks to Apex Wireless for a donation of 51 cell phones for veterans in need! We have 22 phones to distribute at today's Stand Down event from 9-5 at AMVETS Post 1985 in Lancaster. They are unlimited talk, text and data until December 2027, and you must show proof of service. There are also other great resources at the event!
