This year’s winner is a remarkable 15‑year‑old whose essay answered the question “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?” Hearing his thoughtful perspective was truly inspiring to all of us veterans.

VFW Day – September 29th

Yesterday we honored the founding of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, established in 1899 by veterans who returned home and fought for the benefits, care, and recognition that all who served so bravely deserve.

For over a century, the VFW has stood as a powerful voice for veterans, service members, and their families—ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten. On this day, we salute the men and women who not only wore the uniform but continue to serve their communities through the VFW.

Let us remember: freedom is never free, and the work of the VFW helps keep the promise made to every veteran—that their service will always be honored.

What happens if the government does shutdown??????

Georgia Department of Veterans Service has a "Veterans Guide to a Govenrment Shutdown" and is attached with this post.

Even if there's a government shutdown, veterans will still be able to access their health care, benefits, and memorial services from VA. Please keep your scheduled health care appointments.

VA wants to reassure veterans and their families that core services and benefits would be protected. Some less-critical services would temporarily pause.
