🌮 TACO ’BOUT A GOOD CAUSE! 🌮

Mark your calendars because the Council Youth Coalition – Hope in Action is serving up an ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT Street Taco Feed!

📅 Saturday, September 12th
⏰ 6:00 PM
📍 Adams County Fairgrounds
🌮 Carne Asada Street Tacos, Mexican Rice, Charro Beans, Fresh Toppings & Salsa Bar
🎟️ Adults $25 | 12 & Under $15

But this fundraiser is about so much more than tacos.

Every ticket purchased helps the Council Youth Coalition continue working toward something our community desperately needs: more opportunities, more connection, and more places for our kids and families to belong.

In a small, rural community, we don't always have the programs, activities, or resources that are readily available in bigger towns. So we're working to create them right here at home. ❤️

Funds raised help us continue offering youth and community events, classes, activities, and outreach, while also helping us move forward with the bigger vision of creating a Council Community Center: a place where kids can gather, families can connect, community members can learn and create, and people of all ages know they have somewhere they belong.

And just as importantly, events like this fundraiser do something pretty special all on their own. They get us around the same tables. Neighbors visiting with neighbors. Kids laughing. New connections being made. People showing up for one another.

That's what Hope in Action is really about.

So come hungry. Bring the family. Sit awhile. Eat way too many tacos. 😂🌮 And know that while you're enjoying a great meal, you're helping us invest right back into the community we all call home.

Great food. Great community. Great cause. ❤️

People like Lisa here, pretend they care about our community after they have heard a rumor, and clearly have no idea what this is or how it works. Actually caring about your community would be staying informed and up to date. Getting your information from the horses mouth(city council) via the meetings we have once a month. If anyone is interested in this rumor and cares to learn more about it, we will be having a handful of town hall get togethers to talk about this Local Option Tax. Any guesses why it’s called a Local Option Tax? I’ll save the suspense… it’s because the local community decides if/how it fits our community, and then votes it in/out on a ballot with a 60% vote. So let’s all do our due diligence and…. A: stay informed. B: vote.
Thank you.

I’d like to take a second and thank everyone that came out for the ribbon cutting and grand opening for the new City Hall! We loved seeing everyone and even met a few new folks! We are very excited to finally have “the heart of the city” in the heart of the city. We had a wonderful turn out and a very productive meeting afterwords. Special thanks to Ashley and Pepper for organizing this event. Katie Church(chamber of commerce) for suggesting a ribbon cutting ceremony. Great West Engineering for donating the Hotdogs, Buns, condiments and water. My mother for making up her famous potatoe salad. My wife and Pepper for the baked goods. Thank you all and thank the community for making this a success!🙏🏻

Two friendly reminders:

The open house for new City Hall is today from 4 to 6 PM. Everyone is invited and we look forward to seeing you all there! Come get a bite to eat, have a great conversation and check out the new building! We will be blocking off the front parking lot for the shindig. Parking will be on the side in the gravel lot.

Secondly, our regularly scheduled monthly City council meeting is at 6:30 following the open house. Our City attorney will be giving a presentation on a local option tax we are introducing. It is very important to understand why/how this local option tax will benefit our city, community and its residents. Please come and listen!

Thank you all! We are excited so see everybody be come out for the open house!

A massive thank you to Shane Ogden for his generosity and patriotism. Shane came to the city council meeting in June proposing a new lighted flag pole for the museum. He came with a flawless plan that we absolutely could not say no to, especially at no cost to the city. As soon as he got the green light he put his own blood, sweat, tears and cash towards this project and executed it perfectly, with haste! Just in time for Councils epic 4th celebration. I literally cannot thank and be more proud of this local patriot and his dedication to our beloved city!! Let’s all follow suit. I could not be happier with this projects debut!!! Bravo Zulu Shane and thank you from the bottom of the city’s heart!!
