‼️Update- we were able to figure it out and it will be fixed ‼️ Thank you all for your help!
Last night, an individual or individuals entered the Tygart Valley Fire Company property and caused damage to one of our fields.
We are extremely disappointed by this act of vandalism. Our grounds are more than just property—they are a community resource. Throughout the year, we gladly allow our fields to be used for youth soccer, community events, fundraisers, and other activities that benefit the people we proudly serve. We work hard to maintain these facilities so they can continue to be enjoyed by everyone.
It is frustrating and disheartening to see that generosity repaid with unnecessary destruction.
We are asking the person or persons responsible to do the right thing and come forward. Taking responsibility for your actions is always the first step toward making things right.
If anyone witnessed suspicious activity in the area last night or has information that may help identify those involved, we ask that you contact us through Facebook Messenger or reach out to a member of the department. Any information will be appreciated.
As a result of this incident, we will be enhancing our security camera system in the near future to provide expanded coverage of our property. While we regret having to make this investment, protecting the property entrusted to our department—and ultimately to our community—is a responsibility we take seriously.
Please remember that damage to fire department property is damage to a community asset. Every dollar spent repairing vandalism is a dollar that cannot be used to support emergency services, training, equipment, or community programs.
We appreciate the continued support of our community and hope those responsible will choose to do the right thing.
