Melba House Blessing Box
Melba House Blessing Box was started in response to Covid 19's effect on unemployment and homelessness. "Take what you need, leave what you can"
It is a grassroots effort of neighbor helping neighbor with food and other non-perishables.

Melba House Blessing Box has closed. I am not sure if this is temporary or permanant yet.
I want to wholeheartedly Thank everyone who has donated to this worthy cause since April 2020!
We started Melba House Blessing Box to address hunger during COVID 19 and it quickly took off and transitioned into a larger community wide venture that we did not expect but are greatful to have led.
This little blessing box (that has taken a few forms over the years) has fed well over 5000 people and distrubuted over 25,000 meals since 2020.
That was all due to donations that frequently came in.
We not only distributed food but also books, toiletries, masks, toys, clothes, coats, diapers, blankets, school supplies, Holidays meals,
and food baskets. My family and I did porch deliveries during that first year of COVID!
We have had many people and organizations contribute to this needed and worthy cause and again we thank you very much. Your kindness and friendship have meant the world to all of Dallas because you helped those in need by contributing to this this little Blessing Box!
The donations have been less and less despite many homeless and elderly who frequently come to the box in need. I no longer have the time to actively search out donations and am cutting back on my own activities and self funding of the box and the decision did not come lightly and was difficult to make.
I hope I can regroup and continue this venture that is so close to my heart, but for now it is closed and all is taken down.
The work was so special to me and I will never forget those first days of creating this Blessing box from an old desk.
I am keeping the weathered sign, painted by smith padilla, and the Virgen De Guadalupe side panel, painted by Amber Padilla, from the first desk we started with.
The Padilla Family will continue to contribute to the Oak Cliff Community in every way possible.
