COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS IN THE CEDARS

This past week, the District 2 Team joined the Cedars Neighborhood Association for their community meeting.
We appreciated the opportunity to connect with residents and hear updates regarding the upcoming zoning provisions from Planning and Urban Development and project updates for Pioneer Park from the Project team.

This will be an opportunity to learn more about the Pioneer Park project, hear directly from the project team, and ask questions.

FARMERS MARKET STAKEHOLDERS MEETING

This past week, the District 2 Team joined the Farmers Market stakeholders and Dallas’ Transportation & Public Works Department who shared important updates on the César Chávez Corridor, including ongoing work and improvements that impact the area.

Thank you to our Farmers Market stakeholders and community partners for continuing to come together, share feedback, and stay engaged in the future of our neighborhood.

Community, Culture & Connection!

This past Tuesday, District 2 had the opportunity to come together for a wonderful evening celebrating community, culture, and connection!
The event featured:
🎤 A HACER panel conversation with engaging discussion and insights
🌮 Delicious food from Unimarket
🎶 A musical performance by Arturo Artistaín
🤝 Community vendors and opportunities to connect with local organizations and partners
🎨 A hands-on piñata-making activity

Grateful for the continued support and for all the community partners who helped bring everyone together!

Este pasado martes, el Distrito 2 tuvo la oportunidad de reunirse para disfrutar de una conversación de cultura y conexión.

El evento contó con:

🎤 Un panel de HACER, con una conversación enriquecedora llena de ideas y perspectivas.

🌮 Deliciosa comida de Unimarket, que ayudó a darle sabor a la celebración.

🎶 Una presentación musical de Arturo Artistaín, que puso el ambiente y nos hizo disfrutar de la música.

🤝 Organizaciones y representantes comunitarios, creando oportunidades para conectar con organizaciones locales y aliados de nuestra comunidad.

🎨 Una actividad práctica de elaboración de piñatas, que permitió a todos dejar volar su creatividad y celebrar nuestra cultura.

Lotería & Cafecito with Grauwyler Recreation Center Seniors!

District 2 Team had a wonderful time this past week partnering with Dallas Police Department & Grauwyler Rec Team for a fun friendly competition of Loteria and lots of laughs to great conversations over cafecito, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our seniors and spend time together as a community.

Entre risas, cafecito y excelentes conversaciones, tuvimos la oportunidad de convivir, escuchar y conectar con nuestros adultos mayores. Estos momentos nos recuerdan la importancia de fortalecer los lazos y seguir construyendo una comunidad unida.

This morning, District 2 joined the festivities at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden for a lively celebration filled with music, culture and tradition. We loved seeing families come together to celebrate the rich Hispanic heritage that makes Dallas so vibrant! ✨

🪴Something exciting is growing in District 2!

This morning, the District 2 team joined neighbors at Encore Park, just steps from Dallas City Hall, to learn more about its 57-bed organic garden. Using chemical-free growing methods, the garden will produce fresh vegetables and beautiful flowers while helping revitalize the neighborhood.

Future harvests will help feed residents and our unhoused neighbors. We are excited to watch this garden, and the neighborhood around it, continue to grow! 🌱🫛
