Newt’s job is simple but powerful: offering calm, comfort, and a little extra courage to our victims & witness.

🐾 Busy day at the office!

Newt spent the day supervising paperwork, monitoring emails, and making sure everyone stayed on task. Being a working dog in training is hard, but he’s always happy to lend a paw and a little comfort when it is needed. ❤️

Today was supposed to be my day off.
Instead, I got promoted to Search and Rescue Puppy.

My mission: keep track of one very busy little pup. She ran, she explored, she changed directions without warning, and she definitely did not stay where I left her.

After a full day of puppy-sitting duties, I've learned that comforting victims and witnesses might actually be easier than keeping up with a puppy. I am exhausted. I think tomorrow I'll go back to my courthouse job where the humans stay in one place and the belly rubs come to me.

Another day in the office, another opportunity for training.

We are so thankful for our DA family who are willing to lend us their kiddos to help with Newt’s journey. What may look simple is actually some of the most important work he’ll ever do — learning to sit quietly, offer comfort, stay calm, and simply be present.

Is it repetitive? Absolutely.
Is it necessary? Without a doubt.
Is it the very heart of who Newt is becoming? Completely. 🐾

Part of Newt’s training may seem simple, but for a puppy it can actually be one of the hardest things to learn… just sit still and be loved on.

Before a victim or witness takes the stand, the waiting can be one of the most nervous and frightening parts of the entire process. Newt is learning how to sit quietly beside them, offering comfort, support, and a gentle distraction during those moments.

And no, this sweet little guy was not the victim or witness (thank you Tiffany Watson for loaning him to Newt)— but he was a very important part of Newt’s training this day. Learning to stay calm, patient, and focused while someone else needs comfort is his entire job.

So proud of this little guy and the heart he already has for people. 🐾

Today I pause with my humans to remember the brave men and women and K9s who gave everything for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Because of their sacrifice, we get to enjoy the simple things… family cookouts, boat rides, belly rubs, quiet mornings, and time together with the people we love most.

From my family to yours — thank you, and we remember. ❤️🤍💙-Newt

Newt greeted the grand jury Wednesday morning while Investigator Raines shared the vision behind his role and everything this little guy has already accomplished on his journey.

Of course, no visit would be complete without plenty of pets, smiles, and a few well-earned belly rubs along the way. 🖤🐾

Hey friends, Newt here 🐾🇺🇸

Just a reminder from your favorite fluffy community helper — today is a good day to make your voice heard. No matter how big or small you think it is, your vote matters.

While my favorite human is off at the range for the day, I’m apparently stuck supervising “the spare.” And let me tell you… she is exhausting.

Can’t a guy just relax with his best friend Mr. Whale without a camera in his face every five minutes?

Somebody call Dad and tell him to come home. I’ve suffered enough. 🐾😂
