It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Constable-Elect Mike Vance, who passed away on Friday afternoon following a short illness, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of this dedicated, career law enforcement officer.
Constable-Elect Vance retired from the Collin County Sheriff’s Office in 2019 after serving our community for 34 years, working as a detention officer, patrolman, criminal investigator, narcotics investigator, and supervisor. He amassed more than 10,000 criminal investigations in an impressive career that also included 17 years on the Sheriff’s SWAT team.
On November 3, Vance was elected as the Collin County Constable for Precinct 1, and he was looking forward to serving in this new role beginning in January.
In response to the news of Constable-Elect Vance’s passing, County Judge Chris Hill ordered flags at Collin County facilities to be lowered to half-staff.
"Constable-Elect Vance served our community faithfully and honorably for over 30 years," said Judge Hill. "He spent his career protecting the families in our community, and we are grateful for his life of service. I am personally thankful that I had the opportunity to know Mike as a friend and colleague at Collin County. He will be greatly missed.”
