Ringtails — a rare sighting in DFW.
Here's an unusual sighting for DFW! Ringtails are notoriously secretive and their nocturnal lifestyle means that they are rarely seen. Ringtails are distributed throughout most of the state, but they are relatively uncommon in North Texas.
This individual was spotted in a small park in a highly developed area of Fort Worth, which highlights the importance of urban green space. This photo was taken as part of a camera trap study we are working on to learn more about how wildlife uses the urban landscape. Learn more here: https://urbanwildlifeinfo.org/
