El Gato Negro, Nocturnal Warrior; the webcomic is an ongoing independent comic book series featuring the adventures of the superhero, El Gato Negro. Created by Richard Dominguez and published under his own Azteca Productions imprint, the series began in November 2005. It is now being compiled into a graphic novel currently on sale by Amazon.com. "Nocturnal Warrior" takes place in South Texas, wher
e the communities of the Lower Rio Grande Valley are constantly threatened by gangs, drug runners, and costumed criminals. In an effort to fight and prevent crime, social worker Francisco "Pancho" Guerrero adopts his grandfather's former identity as El Gato Negro, promising to "bring bad luck to all those who do evil". Unlike most superheroes, El Gato Negro possesses no superpowers and instead makes use of his own athletic abilities, accumulative knowledge, detective skills to fight crime. He is assisted in his war on crime by several supporting characters including his grandfather, Agustin Guerrero, the original El Gato Negro. In the eyes of the general public, El Gato Negro is known as a living legend and watchful protector of South Texas but despite his best efforts is constantly hunted by the local law enforcement agencies and demonized by the media as a public menace. El Gato Negro, Nocturnal Warrior is now under development for a TV series from MGM. Actor/singer, Diego Boneta ( Luis Miguel) will star as the title role and co-produce. For Licensing purposes, Richard Dominguez is represented by: The Gersh Agency, contact Peter Meyer ([email protected]) or Shan Ray ([email protected]).

FROM THE: "JEEZ, HOW MANY TWO-PAGE SPREADS DOES THIS BOOK HAVE?" DEPT: I finally finished another two-page spread for the upcoming EL GATO NEGRO, NOCTURNAL WARRIOR: "SETTING THE STAGES" Graphic Novel. Written, penciled, inked, lettered and colored by 'Yours Truly' and I had to make several changes to this particular two-pager. Next to Dave Ryan's 'War of the Independents' and Eric N. Bennett's 'Indieversity', this book will have enough Indie characters making cameos and appearances than you can shake a billyclub with. Here, the Nocturnal Warrior is self-narrating while reminiscing all the encounters, team-ups and elbow-rubs he had throughout the years in a nutshell. Your thoughts would be really appreciated.

ANOTHER PAGE FINISHED: This time a two-page spread, The Nocturnal Warrior, a local street gang and two other indie heroes make an appearance in the upcoming EGN graphic novel, EL GATO NEGRO, NOCTURNAL WARRIOR: "SETTING THE STAGES" GRAPHIC NOVEL. Created, written, drawn, inked, lettered and colored by 'yours truly'. This is just a sample of what's to come, lettering coming soon.
In the hype of the announcement of the soon-to-come TV series and the beginning of what will be the start of âGato-Maniaâ, creator Richard E. Dominguez is currently writing, pencilling, inking, lettering, and colouring the next adventure of the Nocturnal Warrior called, El Gato Negro, Nocturnal Warrior; The Graphic Novel: âSetting The Stagesâ.
Dominguez will handle all the chores of creating the graphic novel to give his audiences what they really wanted and missed for so many years...a story coming directly from his heart. The story is a post âWar of The Independentsâ in which happens after the hero comes back and looks at his life and begins to ponder if he is worthy of who he is, after being with so many other âindependent heroesâ with powers and abilities and with far more greater causes.
Francisco Guerrero confronts his grandfather, Agustin Guerrero (the original El Gato Negro) about giving up the mantle of the Nocturnal Warrior to live a normal life and maybe wanting to settle down with Narci Montoya to move away from South Texas. Agustin tells his grandson to âto do what is right for him, and to follow his heartâ.
At the same time, his long time nemesis, Armando âEl Graduadoâ Ochoa is in a âTurf Warâ with long-time-associate-turned-rival, âEl Supremo Gordoâ (The Supreme Fat One), the Drug Lord of West Texas and Southern New Mexico for supremacy and control of the Rio Grande Valley.
Other supporting cast and possible adversaries will make appearances in the story, thus making this âsetting the stagesâ. Francisco must make a decision on whether he leaves this all behind him...or continue being the last hope for the community that help raised him to become the man of who he is! This story will be a 120+ page along with added features: A âGato Galleryâ of other comic book creators and artists with their version of the Nocturnal Warrior, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Latino crimefighter. A backup story of the original El Gato Negro, the Mexican masked luchador battling crime back in his days.
The backup story will be written and drawn by Efren V. Molina. The wraparound cover will be drawn by a surprise DC legendary artist that will be revealed later.
