Should you worry about getting RWI's from your swimming pool?
Read below for more information.
RWIs
Recreational water illnesses (RWIs) are caused by germs that are spread by swallowing contaminated water present in swimming pools, hot tubs, water parks, lakes, and oceans.
According to the CDC, there has been an increase in the number of RWI outbreaks in the past two decades.
The most common RWI is diarrhea. Other RWI infections include:
gastrointestinal
skin
ear
respiratory
eye
neurologic
wound
most common is diarrhea (caused by germs like Crypto and E. coli)
Chlorine and other disinfectants don't kill germs instantly. Also, the mixing of chlorine with p*e and sweat uses up the chlorine in the pool, which would otherwise kill germs. That's why keeping chlorine at recommended levels is essential to maintain a healthy pool.

Have you heard about Salt Water Pools?
Salt water pools are a popular alternative to conventional chlorinated pools, but these pools are actually not free of the chemical: Salt water pools essentially produce their own chlorine from salt.
Salt water pool systems include a generator, which passes a low voltage electrical current through the pool water, converting the chloride ions in salt into chlorine to kill microorganisms and prevent algae and bacterial growth.

The Fleishhacker Pool was the largest swimming pool in the United States. Opened on 23 April 1925, it measured 300 m by 45 m (1,000 ft by 150 ft) and was so large that the lifeguards required kayaks for patrol. It closed in 1971 due to low patronage.

Are you experiencing cloudy water in your hot tub? Read below to view a list of common culprits:
- Dead algae particles

- Bad filtration
- Lack of sanitizer (i.e. chlorine)
- High pH and/or alkalinity
- Vandalism (let's just hope it's not vandalism)
- Body oils, lotions, and other human elements
A hot tub can become cloudy quicker because of it's small size. You're dealing with a lot less water than a swimming pool. If you need further assistance with your hot tub, please call us at:
