Good morning, friends of the Cemetery. We are getting hit hard by hogs. If you go by, please know we are aware. Sadly, there aren't many options for the management of these beasts. There are a number of people trapping along Salem Rd, but the numbers are so great that it barely taps the issue. Hogs have been known to topple headstones and cause millions of dollars in damages annually in Texas. Hopefully, they move along soon!!

A note of gratitude.
We recently lost a man who’s dedication to the Salem Cemetery Association created a lasting and meaningful impact.
Billy Jim Puckett served on the inaugural board organized in 1989, to create perpetual care for the upkeep of the cemetery and to honor the memory of loved ones buried here.
We have been fortunate to have Mr. Puckett & his wife Estelle’s continued involvement over these many years. His big, genuine smile and positive attitude was infectious. When Billy smiled, everyone else did too!! We miss him greatly and sincerely appreciate all he and Estelle have contributed to our association and those interred on our grounds.
Here is an excerpt from his obituary. If you wish to read more or offer condolences, this link will take you to his memorial page.

William "Billy" Puckett, age 92, of Blanchard, Louisiana passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. Billy was born on August 15, 1932 in Bloomburg, Texas to the late William Raymond and Lora Ellen Coleman Puckett.
Billy proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict and dedicated 22 years as a skilled carpenter at the VA Hospital. He was a man of rare character---one whose presence left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Billy embodied the virtues of hard work, humility, and kindness, always putting others first and remaining selfless to the very end.
A man of unwavering Christian faith, Billy lived according to his beliefs, offering love, compassion, and support to everyone he encountered. His fierce independence and resolute determination were hallmarks of his life, and his commitment to doing what was right never faltered. His legacy is one of integrity, strength, and deep love for family and friends.

Thank you to the good people that answered our call for donations from our recent mail out. Unfortunately, many are returned to us as the addresses are no longer valid. Please help us convert to virtual mailings by providing emails for your family members. This saves time and money and we can all use a little more of both!! Drop a note to: [email protected]

Hi friends. Like many of you, our cemetery has extensive damage with trees down and on the fence lines from the recent storms. We are always in need of donations, but this is a great example of added costs we will have to incur. Please donate to The Salem Cemetery Association today to help ensure perpetual care for the many generations of loved ones interred on our grounds. We are a nonprofit & your donation is tax deductible. Mail to PO Box 34, Bloomburg, TX 75556. Thank you!
