I’ve been hearing from many of you about the animal shelter, so here’s where things stand after my update at the last months' City Council meeting.

🐾 Two new team members have been hired for the shelter.

🐾 The temporary shelter renovation is nearly complete. (picture of me inside) We expect it to be operational in a few weeks.

🐾 On a permanent location, Council asked staff to come back with additional cost estimates before we decide. Council currently leans toward fixing up the current location further. I lean toward building a shelter at Heritage Park, but we’ll wait and see what makes financial sense for the City.

🏍️ Today is National Motorcycle Ride Day.

Back in the day, I did my fair share of riding and use to shut down Palm Beach County. These days, I don’t ride as much, but I still have one bike in the garage! 🏍️ And yes, I’ve got a few memories (and pictures) to prove it including some with my son!

On a serious note, I’ve lost friends and family in motorcycle accidents, so this is a reminder that safety is no joke. To my fellow riders, ride smart, ride safe, and enjoy the journey. To drivers, **look twice, look three times if you have to, and share the road!**

Let’s all make it home safely. 🙏🏾🏍️

Birthday month is officially closing out and I need a minute to say Thank You! The calls, texts, messages and my favorite sweets means more than you know. I know millions didn't make it but God has allowed me to.

So here's one way I'm celebrating: I started a video podcast called Truth With Travis. Same real talk you've always gotten from me, just a new way to have the conversation by sitting down with the decision-makers, the rule-writers, and everybody else shaping how local politics actually works, and asking the questions you'd ask if you were in the room.

A quick heads up...

The Dollar General across from Shields Elementary will be closed starting **September 20th** for a remodel. So no need to panic… Dollar General is just going to the beauty shop.

They’re hoping to reopen around **September 28th** with a new look, and I was also told they’re hoping to bring some fresh produce. 🍎 🍇

Help Build the Budget 🏗️

Last time I showed you where your tax dollar comes from and goes. Now it's your turn to weigh in on what's not currently in the budget.

There are really two different kinds of requests on the table, and they work differently:

1️⃣ One-Time Purchases — vehicles, equipment, street repairs. Buy them once, done. These can be paid for out of the City's savings, without a bill next year.

2️⃣ Recurring Costs — new staff and ongoing contracts. These come back every single year. The City's ongoing revenue is projected to run about $680,000 ahead of ongoing costs. Everything on flyer 2 has to fit inside, permanently.

Take a look at both. You can't fund everything on either one.
