Thanks to everyone who came out today to celebrate Sam’s birthday! We know the rain might have kept a few of you away and you were definitely missed, but there’s always a reason to party at , so we’ll catch you next time. Some folks also slipped away without posing for pics, but thankfully we caught a few. We did admire our avian visitors as well, but we refused to share Clinton Sulak-Tovar’s delicious cupcakes. We do have boundaries, after all.😂

Congratulations to Jesse Zambrano who won the $50 O'Brien's Bookshop gift card! Can’t wait to hear about your bookish choices. 📚

Did you know that in the 96 years of our library's existence, we've only had 7 librarians? Each of them have added their own personality to our story, and we are thankful for each one of them.

It's a bit of a gloomy day and that always calls for a cozy meal. Take a page out of Italy's Cook Book from 1923!

How about a warm bowl of vegetable soup from Mrs. Josie Harkey's kitchen? Or maybe some Salmon Croquettes from Mrs. J.D. Stovall? Mrs. Jack Wolaver's French Chocolate Cake sounds divine and the perfect finish to a delicious meal.

Take a walk down Memory Lane and visit the library for all the other delicious recipes!

Happy Birthday to our very own Samuel Meriwether Dunlap! Sam was born April 10, 1857, and at his death in 1924, left Italy the incredible gift of a library dedicated to serving the community. We are one of only two privately endowed libraries in the state of Texas, and we love being an integral part of all that happens in “the biggest little town in Texas “.

Celebrate Sam’s birthday with us next Saturday from 10am until noon at the library! You’ll be entered to win a gift card from a local bookstore! 🧁🎉
