Governor Abbott Halts College Tuition Increases In Texas 05/30/2026

At a time when families are focused on affordability and opportunity, keeping higher education accessible is critical. Serving on both the Senate Committee on Education (K-12) and the Senate Committee on Higher Education, I see firsthand the importance of preparing students for the workforce of tomorrow, expanding opportunity for Texas families and keeping Texas strong and competitive.

Governor Abbott Halts College Tuition Increases In Texas Governor Greg Abbott today sent a letter to all Texas public institutions of higher education, halting increases in undergraduate tuition and fees for the upcoming academic year.

Some men leave a mark on history. Brian Birdwell has survived it, shaped it, and continued serving through it.

From enduring the horrors of 9/11 at the Pentagon to years of principled leadership in the Texas Senate, Brian's life has been deeply rooted in faith, sacrifice, and service to others.

It has been an honor serving alongside him in the Legislature and witnessing firsthand his steady leadership and commitment to Texas and our Nation. Congratulations to my dear friend Brian Birdwell on his confirmation as Assistant Secretary of War. While Texas will certainly miss his presence in the Senate, our country will benefit greatly from his continued service at this critical time!

Thank you to the Preston Center Rotary Club for inviting me to join you as we discussed the most critical issues facing Texas and the work we are doing to keep our future bright. It’s always inspiring to start the day with area Texans who are selfless leaders for their community and beyond.

I enjoyed sharing details behind some of the key policies I led last session, such as passing the legislative framework for Y’all Street, the creation of Cyber Command, and the establishment of our Homeland Security division in Texas!

Exxon wins shareholder backing for legal move to Texas 05/28/2026

ExxonMobil's decision to reincorporate in Texas is another major sign that Texas is leading the future of American finance and business. Despite pressure from coordinated activist groups, companies are choosing Texas because we’ve worked to create a stable, pro-growth environment that respects shareholders, supports innovation, and understands business.

The work we advanced through the “Y’all Street” legislative package and the launch of the Texas Stock Exchange is doing exactly what it was designed to do; positioning Texas as America’s new financial capital and creating more opportunity, investment, and jobs for Texans.

Exxon wins shareholder backing for legal move to Texas Exxon Mobil shareholders on Wednesday approved the company's plan to redomicile in Texas, marking a win for the top U.S. oil producer after two leading proxy advisory firms advised investors to strike down the proposal.

This Memorial Day, we join as Americans in solemn remembrance of the brave men and women who fought for and gave their lives defending our great nation and the freedoms we hold dear. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to duty have preserved the gift of liberty for generations of Americans and inspired freedom-loving people around the world.

As we gather with family and friends, may we never lose sight of the true meaning of this sacred day. We honor and remember the heroes who gave everything in service to our nation.

And in every tomorrow, may we live with gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy, remembering whose shoulders we stand upon and the extraordinary blessing it is to be an American - passing to the next generation to Never Forget the price that has been paid for liberty.

Congratulations, to my hometown of Flower Mound! According to the newly released U.S. News & World Report rankings of the 250 Best Places to Live in America, Flower Mound was named the #3 Best Place to Live in the nation and the #1 Best Place to Live in Texas!

Beth and I are grateful to have called Flower Mound home for the past three decades, where we raised our family and came to deeply appreciate the strong sense of community, service, and care for others that makes this town so special.

It’s no surprise that communities like Carrollton, Lewisville, Irving, Denton, Little Elm, Frisco and more made Texas home to 40% of the top 250 places ranked nationwide! As our great state continues to grow, we must remain committed to preserving the values, opportunity, and quality of life that make Texas communities among the very best places to call home!
