Murphy is just over 5 sq miles with a population of 22,866. This eastern Collin County city has a highly educated and diverse population.

Residents enjoy 10 public parks, numerous city events and a commercial corridor with over 70 places to eat & drink. In 2005, the current Municipal Complex housing City Hall, the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Parks and Public Works Building was opened. In 2011, the Murphy Activity Center opened, and in 2012, the Old School House next door opened as a Community Center. Murphy citizens cherish the bedroom community located in a prime area of Collin County with plenty of access to retail, award winning school districts, community events, and beautiful parks and trail systems. Murphy is bordered by the cities of Plano, Richardson, Wylie, Sachse, and Parker, consists of approximately 5 square miles, and has a population of approximately 21,219. 📚 A New Little Free Library in Murphy!

On Saturday, the City of Murphy’s Parks and Recreation Department received a wonderful surprise! The Mary Shirley McGuire Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution donated a Little Free Library to the Murphy Community Center, and it’s now open to the community!

Residents are invited to stop by, pick up a book, gift a favorite read and help spread the joy of reading throughout Murphy.

A special thank-you to Rhonda Lucich and the Mary Shirley McGuire Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for this thoughtful donation and for helping create another opportunity for our community to connect through reading! 📖

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the City of Murphy Fire Department Open House this past Saturday! 🚒

The event was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, recognize the dedicated professionals who serve Murphy, and promote fire prevention and safety through interactive demonstrations, educational activities, and family-friendly attractions.

We appreciate everyone who came out to engage with our firefighters and learn more about the important role fire prevention plays in keeping our community safe.

Great turnout at Saturday's Fall Clean & Green!

Murphy residents brought household waste, paper, electronics and more for proper disposal and recycling, helping keep unwanted materials out of the landfill.

Thank you to everyone who came out and participated, and to our Parks & Recreation team, volunteers and community partners for helping make the event a success.
