This morning, we hosted the 2026 Western CT Legislative Candidate Forum, organized by the CT Community Nonprofit Alliance!

The forum brought together nonprofit leaders, community members, and local candidates for the Connecticut General Assembly to discuss the issues that matter most to nonprofits and the communities we serve.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this an opportunity for meaningful conversation and connection!

A special thank you to the participating candidates and legislators:
- Kimberly Becker, Democratic Candidate, 62nd House District
- Paul Honig, State Senator, 8th Senate District
- Maria Horn, State Representative, 64th House District
- Stephen Harding, State Senator, 30th Senate District

Thank you to Nate and the CT Young Republicans for doing doors with me today.

Connecticut’s towns are not interchangeable. Litchfield and Torrington aren't New Haven just as Brookfield and Kent aren't Waterbury. Each has its own character, infrastructure, and limits, and the people who live there know them best.

That’s why I oppose statewide zoning mandates that take land-use decisions away from local boards and hand them to Hartford. One-size-fits-all rules can’t account for the septic systems and wells that many of our towns depend on, the two-lane roads that can’t handle more traffic, or the schools and first responders already stretched thin.

Overdevelopment isn’t about keeping people out. It’s about growth that’s planned, paced, and paid for, with open space, water quality, environmental protection and the character of our neighborhoods taken seriously.

I will continue to ensure our neighborhoods are protected.

🌱 Great news for students in New Fairfield, Sherman and New Milford!

I’m pleased to share that three school programs in our district have been awarded $14,093 in total through the Connecticut Department of Agriculture’s CT Grown for CT Kids program.

🍅 New Fairfield High School: $5,000 to expand its farm-to-school program by connecting its greenhouse program with a local farmer and its culinary program, giving students hands-on experience in agriculture and food preparation.

🚜 Sherman School District: $5,000 for an outdoor classroom at Happy Acres Farm, providing every Sherman student with at least two farm visits during the school year to learn about agriculture and how food grows.

🥕 New Milford Public Schools: $4,093 to expand farm-to-school taste tests across the district, introducing more students to fresh, locally grown foods.

Supporting our local farms and creating meaningful learning opportunities for our students go hand in hand. These grants will help children understand where their food comes from while strengthening connections between our schools and the agricultural community.

Congratulations to the educators, farmers and school teams making these programs possible!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and to all the volunteers, local organizations, and vendors who helped make Riverfest such a great event. Looking forward to the next one!

Proud to have the support of those who serve and protect our communities every single day.

I’m honored to be endorsed by the Police Officers Association of Connecticut, Connecticut State Police Union, and Uniformed Professional Firefighters Association of Connecticut.

Our police officers, state troopers, firefighters, EMTs, and first responders answer the call when our communities need them most. In the State Senate, I will continue to stand with the brave men and women who keep Connecticut safe and make sure they have the support, resources, and respect they deserve.

Thank you to these organizations and their members for their trust and support. I’m proud to stand with Connecticut’s first responders.
