The Illinois Department of Corrections is hosting a screening event in Livingston County at the Pontiac Recreation Center on Thursday, November 19th. The screening event is hosted to test Corrections Officer and Corrections Treatment Officer Trainee applicants.

Sign in time will be between 7:30 and 8:30 that morning and all applicants should plan to be at the screening venue until at least 5:30 that evening.

The Governor's celebration of Illinois’ recent credit upgrades as proof of his financial prowess is misleading. The upgrades are the direct result of his willingness to raise taxes and fees nearly every year, not his efforts towards making structural reforms. Since 2019, he has enacted 63 tax and fee hikes, only making our state less attractive, less competitive and certainly less affordable.

On September 28, the Illinois Department of Revenue released draft rules for the Digital Asset Tax Act and opened a public comment period that runs through close of business Friday, October 30. Financial abuse can trap domestic violence survivors, even once their relationship ends. This spring, I was pleased to support HB 4659, which provides stronger legal protections for survivors who had been coerced into debt and helps them rebuild their lives.

House Bill 4659, a bipartisan measure passed by Illinois lawmakers earlier this year, amends the Consumer Installment Loan Act to establish a legal defense for survivors whose debts were incurred through fraud, intimidation, threats, force or coercion.
