Aurora Water conducts over 85,000 tests across its system and the city each year. One testing site is Aurora Reservoir, where water quality analysts take samples twice a month to monitor conditions and establish a baseline. Once those samples are collected, they’re analyzed in the lab at Aurora Water’s SEAM facility, and a treatability report is produced to ensure the water meets health and compliance standards.

Updated at 1 p.m. Oct. 14: Please note this upcoming travel impact on East Quincy Avenue east of the fairgrounds for county bridge repairs. The dates for work have changed. The closure will start Wednesday, Oct. 21, and remain through the end of day Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Attention drivers in eastern Arapahoe County! Arapahoe County has scheduled emergency repairs to two bridges on East Quincy Avenue between the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and South Watkins Road.

Here is what you need to know for repairs to the Black Shack Bridge and Coal Creek Bridge:

• East Quincy Avenue (Airline Road) will be closed to traffic between South Powhaton Road and South Watkins Road starting Oct. 21. Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 27, weather permitting.
• Access will be maintained for local traffic. A detour is in place for all other traffic. Motorists can use a combination of South Gun Club Road, East Jewell Avenue and South Watkins Road.

Damage to both bridges was reported earlier this year. Work to each bridge includes deck work. Additional repairs will be scheduled for 2027.

The Aurora Police Department receives reports of cybercrimes such as phishing emails, impersonation scams, online marketplace fraud, wire transfer fraud, romance scams and business email compromise schemes. See the comments for definitions and warning signs.

Cybercriminals also use phone calls and text messages, often posing as trusted organizations and creating a false sense of urgency.

Remember: Stop. Verify. Protect.

• Hang up on suspicious callers.
• Verify requests through official channels.
• Never send money or share personal information without confirming who you're dealing with.

The application window is still open for two vacancies on the city of Aurora’s Planning and Zoning Commission!

This critical volunteer group provides recommendations to the Aurora City Council on zoning and a wide range of planning- and development-related issues.

The Aurora City Council will meet today, Oct. 12, at the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Looking for a way to volunteer?

The Aurora Fox Arts Center is seeking volunteers to serve as ushers for upcoming performances. Ushers welcome theatre guests, scan tickets, assist patrons in finding their seats and answer general questions throughout performances. Volunteers are needed primarily on Thursday through Saturday evenings, with occasional daytime shifts on Saturdays and Sundays.

Aurora youth have free access to Aurora recreation centers this fall break 🍂

The We Are Aurora Youth program provides free recreation center access for youth ages 13 to 18 from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, to Friday, Oct. 16. Youth can participate in staff-led activities such as basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer, esports, board games and gift card competitions.

Participating locations:
- Central Recreation Center, 18150 E. Vassar Place
- Moorhead Recreation Center, 2390 Havana St.
- Southeast Recreation Center and Fieldhouse, 25400 E. Alexander Drive
