Today, March 25th, marks National Medal of Honor Day, a day designated to recognize and honor the recipients of the United States’ highest military decoration. Awarded by the President, in the name of Congress, the commemorates those who have shaped our nation’s history and continue to inspire its future with their acts of valor, going “above and beyond the call of duty.”
Of the 40 million Americans who have served in the Armed Forces since the Civil War, fewer than 4,000 have been awarded the Medal of Honor. Today, there are only 63 living recipients scattered across our nation.
In just one year, the National Medal of Honor Museum, being constructed in Arlington, Texas, will open its doors to the public, serving as a lasting tribute to these ordinary individuals who accomplished the extraordinary. Their legacies will be preserved for future generations to learn from and draw inspiration.
Join us as we celebrate and pay respect to their illustrations of: courage and sacrifice, commitment and integrity, citizenship and patriotism. 🇺🇸
Thank you to all who have served or are currently serving this country. We would not be the country we are without your commitment and sacrifice.
