Are you on Section 8 or public housing in Polk county?

If so, did you know there are other programs you qualify for?

Up first is the FSS program - Family self sufficiency) - this program is voluntary, and its intention is long term economic self sufficiency. You will receive a one on one coordinator, assistance with resumes, skill building, financial workshops, and homeownership.

As you earn more money, naturally your rent will increase; HOWEVER, the rent increase will go into an escrow account and once graduated from the program, you will receive those funds.

What are your biggest barriers and What would everyone like to learn more information about? I know financial assistance is always a top need; but there’s not long term financial resources available for most.

However; I can help educate on resources to move forward in a positive direction. Are the highest barriers learning skills for employment? Criminal background for employment? Housing for bad credit or background? Needing to know how to apply for SSDI, Medicaid, or care coordination? Knowing the additional services that your Medicaid provides?

The system can be complicated and complex and I feel like there are so many resources people don’t know about or they struggle finding where to start.

Did you know you can filter “by owner” on hotpads.com when looking for housing?

When you have barriers regarding credit, criminal background, etc, this is helpful to speak to an actual person rather than a system that accepts or denies you immediately.
