A good day of conversations in Pleasant Hill. The two topics voters were talking about the most today were mental health and affordability. Wage growth, not just job quantity or corporate profits, has to be our priority again in economic planning. And we can do so much better on accessible, quality health care—including mental health services—by favoring those things over corporate giveaways and tax credits.

I’m proud to have the support of AFSCME in this campaign. I am wholly committed, and always have been, to restoring and expanding the rights of the public workers our state and local communities depend on every day.

As cochair of the Iowa’s Taiwan Partner State program, I was honored to be part of bringing a “Glorious Taiwan” performance to CelebrAsian this year. It was an outstanding performance for a wonderful audience in Des Moines.

I was honored to share my thoughts as my friend Senator Bill Dotzler retires after 30 years in the Iowa Legislature. I had a from row seat right next to Bill for eight years and truly respect and appreciate the work he did—and the way he did it.

I’ve stood with Teamsters Local 90 members on picket lines in East Des Moines, advocated for them as an attorney, and worked for them in the legislative process to make Iowa a better place to live, work, and raise a family. I appreciate their support in this campaign.
