Holiday Hours for . On Saturday, May 23 the Main Library (5201 Woodward) will be OPEN but the Burton Historical Collection only will be CLOSED. Then on , Monday, May 25, ALL library locations will be CLOSED.

Summer Hours start this week! Beginning tomorrow, May 22, all Branches will be OPEN on Fridays and CLOSED on Saturdays. The Main Library will be closed on Sundays during the summer.

Join us for a free, magical opera event for little ones at the Parkman Branch (1766 Oakman Blvd)! The Detroit Opera will be presenting a special performance of "The Fairy Queen" on Tuesday, May 12 from 11 am - Noon. The opera is geared for children ages 3-5, but all families are welcome!

The welcomes historian John Garrison Marks, who will be discussing his latest book, "Thy Will Be Done: George Washington’s Legacy of Slavery and the Fight for American Memory." On Sunday, May 10 at 2 pm, John will be joined in conversation with Lance Wheeler, Vice President of Learning & Engagement at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
