Special shout out to Omo Misha for curating and holding space for this exhibition and for continuing to support storytelling, community, and Detroit artists through the vision of Irwin House Art Gallery.

Today @ 7pm, that I will be joining The Awesome Difficult Work of Love production in Flint, MI.

This free community-participation performance features music, spoken word, visual art, and audience engagement through four movements inspired by the life, teachings, and revolutionary writings of June Jordan.

The evening features performances by:

Baba Juke™ is a multimedia art exhibition and storytelling experience honoring the powerful musical relationships between fathers and their daughters. Through portraiture, sound, oral history, installation, and live community reflection, the exhibition explores how music travels through family as memory, legacy, healing, and love.

From blues, jazz, funk, and soul to hip hop, house, R&B, gospel, fusion, and beyond... this gathering is for the music lovers, the crate diggers, the dancers, the storytellers, the aunties, uncles, elders, youth, and every generation in between. Whether music raised you, saved you, connected your family, or shaped your spirit, there is space for you here. 💙
