Of the countless transactions we have facilitated in the City of Detroit, the sale of the G.A.R. Building was our most iconic property. Joe Barbat of Barbat Holdings plans to take this 120-year old castle into it’s next chapter. The sellers put their blood, sweat and tears into this building winning the Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation. Now we get to raise a glass with them, smile with gratitude, and watch Joe and his team take the reins. The historic and iconic GAR Building, Detroit’s Castle in the City, underwent an award-winning restoration/renovation, which we recently brought to market for sale. It’s pretty amazing to look back and see buildings we once walked through when they were in shambles, when all they had was history and a developer who believed it could be done. Hygrade Deli is now under new ownership! We were honored to help Stuart sell the building and business to Chuck Nolan who will steward this historic restaurant into the future.

Chuck is committed to keeping all the wonderful charm, food and employees at Hygrade. On Friday Mayor Mike Duggan , Wayne County, Michigan Executive Warren Evans, and Councilwoman Gabriela Santiago-Romero came with news crews, friends and family as Chuck honored the Litt family and their legacy in Corktown.
