Built in 1927, the home was owned for 25-years by the “greatest singer of all time,” as named by Rolling Stone, Aretha Franklin. And just prior, it was home to feminist, artist and original Lone Ranger actress, Patricia Hill Burnett.
Nestled on the Detroit Golf Club, the majestic Tudor overlooks the 7th hole as designed by Donald Ross with support from club member, Henry Ford.
The Rose shines in nearly 7,000 square feet of elaborate tiling, wood carvings, brick and stone arches, five fireplaces, and rose chandeliers.
Restoring this historic gem will require a labor of love. From abandonment these past 10 years, we'll bring back its heartbeat of history. You’re invited to follow our progress as we embark on this mission together.

MICHIGAN ALERT: To my friends and family in the Consumers Energy gas footprint: I need your help. Turn your natural gas heaters to the lowest level for your home, like 65 degrees rather than 73, as we have declared an emergency following a facility fire that accounts for 64 percent of our gas output. We are working around the clock to keep hospitals and senior centers and core facilities running. Thank you. I love you.

A great number of people I know are members of The Grand Rapids Diocese, including my family. It is your choice to be silent and your choice to give money to people who are so anti-gay they feel threatened by the love of two committed people. God doesn’t recommend through scripture firing talented and law abiding people from their jobs - people who are amazing and full of grace and love. It should make you very uncomfortable and angry. And this is local- not some random news article from another town far away. Tonight, rather than focusing on the poor or raising attention to good works of every day people- the senior staff of the Diocese, including its communications director, are focused on firing a le***an. They are ruining lives and doing it in God’s name. God is a witness to those who remained silent tonight and did nothing. Shame on the Diocese. Shame on its staff. And shame on those who approve and enable and support this illegal, discriminatory, homophobic, and cowardly act. The lines are clear.

President Donald J. Trump banned transgender people from serving their country today. I attended the bill signing ceremony for the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" in 2010 and recall the words of President Barack Obama. I replaced each instance of "gay" with "transgender" because I believe the same can be said for the service of trans Americans.
"I want to speak directly to the transgender Americans currently serving in our military. For a long time your service has demanded a particular kind of sacrifice. You’ve been asked to carry the added burden of secrecy and isolation. And all the while, you’ve put your lives on the line for the freedoms and privileges of citizenship that are not fully granted to you. ...
There will never be a full accounting of the heroism demonstrated by transgender Americans in service to this country; their service has been obscured in history. It’s been lost to prejudices that have waned in our own lifetimes. But at every turn, every crossroads in our past, we know transgender Americans fought just as hard, gave just as much to protect this nation and the ideals for which it stands.
There can be little doubt there were transgender soldiers who fought for American independence, who consecrated the ground at Gettysburg, who manned the trenches along the Western Front, who stormed the beaches of Iwo Jima. Their names are etched into the walls of our memorials. Their headstones dot the grounds at Arlington."
