And now, a bit of history. You can now view videos of the planning, development and implementation of Detroit's first in-ROW (right-of-way) on Mack Avenue between Lakeview and Coplin.
We completed the construction in the fall of 2015. Has anyone visited this site since then? Our 42PG founder, architect Ron Omilian once wrote: "(This project) needs to demonstrate the possibilities for a vision of renewal for the local community and for Detroit. The stakes are high, so a home-run is necessary. We are up to the challenge because of our experience, our passions, and our desires to do something that is visionary and necessary for the benefit of all." Your comments are appreciated :-)
Projects like the Mack Avenue Bioswale contracted many hardworking and talented Detroiters. On 06-11-2015 the 42PG construction team laid the pre-cast concrete for this portion of the structure.
The Bioswale project was a small demonstration of a part of what was originally planned, which was the Mack Avenue Green Thoroughfare. The 42PG team presented detailed drawings that visualized one eastside community revitalized with a smart street, solar lighting, stormwater management, and places people wanted to be! This was recorded on 09-20-2013 at LAND, Inc.
42PG partners architect Ron Omilian and engineer Phil Hadley meet with LAND, Inc. Exec. Director Jacqueline Bejma in the planning and design phase of the Mack Avenue bioswale project. 42PG partner Louis Johnson IV recorded this on 06-19-2014.
When the Mack Avenue Bioswale was first completed, one of our first visitors from the community sat down and chatted with our founder, Ron Omilian, R.A., LEED AP. We hope there have been many more visitors enjoying that spot since then!
