A WORD FROM THE SHERIFF

Everyone knows a storm is coming. No one is sure how much or exactly what to expect. I urge everyone to stay home if possible. Please check on your neighbors,take care of your pets,and make sure they have warm bedding and fresh water. Call the Sheriff’s Office (911) if you need any assistance. We will work through this storm (my Chief Deputy,along with myself,included). Our goal is to keep everyone safe. We will make sure inmates are also taken care of,and we have backup plans in place. Again,avoid travel if possible and be prepared.

SCAM ALERT

One of our businesses received a call today claiming to be with the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office. They wanted to verify employment and stated the individual had missed jury duty. The Sheriff’s Office doesn’t call to verify employment, and definitely not for jury duty. All jury duty is handled by General Sessions Ethan Gray;you can contact his office at 232-8474 for any questions or concerns.
