A huge thank you to BayLand Consultants & Designers, Inc. BayLand Consultants for these incredible aerial images of Pickering Creek’s living shoreline! The living shoreline installation provides habitat for numerous species of wildlife and helps to mitigate climate change impacts like erosion on the shores of Pickering Creek by stabilizing the sediments with plants and buffering waves with the whale-tail structures.

Happy DAFday! Be Intentional in your giving!
This special day celebrates the transformative power of donor-advised funds (DAFs) and the positive impact they have on organizations like Pickering Creek Audubon Center. It is a day when donor-advised fund (DAF) holders across the country direct giving they have already set aside to give toward causes they care about most — and we hope the Pickering Creek Audubon Center is at the top of your list.

A DAF gift to Pickering Creek connects thousands to the natural world that supports us all! It also creates and maintains healthy habitats to support the wildlife that brings joy and wonder into our lives.

We just recently highlighted parasitic plants, and now it’s time to highlight a parasitic fungus! Pseudoinonotus dryadeus, commonly known as weeping conk because of the fluid it exudes, is a parasitic fungus whose spores enter wounds on trees. It is usually found on oaks, and is mainly a root decay fungus, causing the subterranean parts of the roots to rot.
