We’re BACK in school and ready to build on our momentum from last year to continue making strides in our student data!

We are pleased to share that the 25/26 state assessment (MCAP) data showed that our TCPS 5th grade had the highest percentage-point growth in the state of Maryland in English Language Arts (ELA) at 11.8%.

Congratulations to our students and their teachers on this outstanding achievement!

We had another great turnout for Popsicles in the Park at Idlewild Park in Easton! Many thanks to the Talbot County Free Library, the Judy Center Learning Hubs, and the beautiful families who joined us to celebrate reading in this special way!

These events are one of our initiatives intended to advance the Board of Education’s goal to achieve growth in our literacy outcomes. I’m very proud to share that the number of Talbot County Public Schools students in grades K-2 who met or exceeded the DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) assessment benchmark increased by 35.1% for the 25-26 school year! This far exceeded the Board of Education’s goal - an increase of 5%!

I was honored to give the opening remarks for Senator Cory McCray at this special event, held last week at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum! McCray's story is a profound testimonial about the transformative potential that work-based learning provides to our students through our internship and apprenticeship programs!
