Thank you to Uncommon Ground Sculpture Park for inviting the museum to help create a video about Route 66 history for 3rd graders. Amy Stephens and Ryan Brandt specifically addressed the ways students in Edmond are already part of Route 66 history--whether they knew it or not!

UNCOMMON ART 🎨

Title: Valley of the Horse
Artist: Paul Moore

Six life-size horses, frozen in motion at the northwest corner of Second and Coltrane, honor the Arabian horses that occupied the 62-acres of Uncommon Ground for over 50 years.

The artist, Paul Moore, was born in Oklahoma City in 1957 and has gained national and international recognition with his work. Moore’s 365-foot installation, the Oklahoma Centennial Land Run Monument in Oklahoma City, is one of the largest bronze sculptures in the world.

Moore has sculpted more than 130 commissions for numerous municipal, corporate, private and international collections.

“Valley of the Horse” was commissioned for the park by the Edmond Visual Arts Commission with support from the City of Edmond and private donations.

MURAL WALL RFQ 🎨

The Uncommon Ground Sculpture Park invites artists and creative teams to submit qualifications for a mural design for a prominent outdoor barn wall located within the future sculpture park in Edmond, Oklahoma!

We are seeking an imaginative, memorable, site-responsive design that will become an important visual element of the park and contribute to the experience of visitors. Artwork themes can reflect Oklahoma, nature, discovery and wonder, or the history of the barn, which once housed Arabian horses.

The selected artist will be commissioned to develop a design for a large-scale, south facing, barn wall, measuring approximately 100 feet wide × 13 feet high.

Artists from Oklahoma and throughout the United States are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications are due October 15, 2026.
