Today we honor the courage, sacrifice and unwavering determination of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy June 6, 1944. Their actions changed the course of history and demonstrated the true meaning of bravery in the face of impossible odds.
Eighty years later, we remember the Soldiers who fought, the heroes who never returned and the legacy of freedom they secured for future generations.

With the finish line in sight, they’re pushing hard for a chance to advance to the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Best Squad Competition. 🪖

On June 5, 1944, Old Ironsides played a key role in the liberation of Rome, Italy, during World War II. 🪖
After months of intense fighting at the Anzio beachhead, elements of the 1st Armored Division, serving under the U.S. Fifth Army, broke through the German Caesar Line and advanced into Rome. As Soldiers entered the city, they were met by cheering civilians celebrating their first day of freedom after years of occupation.
The division’s advance on June 4–5 marked the end of the long Battle of Anzio and opened the way for continued Allied progress across Italy—cementing Old Ironsides’ legacy as a decisive force in the campaign. 🇺🇸

Soldiers can volunteer at the El Paso Zoo 🐾, join downtown clean‑ups 🧹, walk dogs at the animal shelter 🐕, and join free events like movie nights 🎬, paintball, and horseback riding 🐎. BOSS also offers life‑skills classes such as swimming, culinary instruction, and auto maintenance.

Transfer of Authority: Sustainment Mission Shifts to 1st Armored Division 🇺🇸
A joint color guard from the 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade and the 1st Armored Division Sustainment Brigade rendered honors during a transfer of authority ceremony at Fort Bliss, Texas, June 1, 2026. The event marked the transition of sustainment operations supporting Joint Task Force–Southern Border. 🪖
Brig. Gen. Brian A. Filler thanked the 10th Mountain DSB for its successful deployment and welcomed the 1AD DSB as it assumed responsibility for the mission. The casing of the 10th Mountain colors signified the completion of its support to JTF‑SB. 🫡
U.S. Northern Command continues working with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to provide unique military capabilities within defined authorities to help protect the U.S. southern border.

Maj. Gen. Curtis Taylor recognized 1st Sgt. Steven Quintero with the Armor and Cavalry Leadership Award at Fort Bliss, Texas. 🔥
As a senior M1 Abrams crewman with 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Quintero has led training that sharpened gunnery performance, strengthened platoon‑level cohesion, and elevated standards across the formation. ⚔💪

Iron Eagles in action 🦅🔥
Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, completed demanding events during the 1‑501st Belt Buckle Rodeo at Fort Bliss, Texas. 💪
The competition included a remote Hellfire lane, a six‑mile foot march, chemical readiness drills and night defensive operations—strengthening teamwork and readiness across the battalion.Soldiers who finished all events earned the battalion belt buckle and a certificate of achievement. 🏅

Armored Lethality in Bulgaria 🔥
U.S. Army Soldiers from Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, conducted M1 Abrams gunnery training at Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria.
Pfc. Gordon Teel, Sgt. Michael Ruhl and 1st Lt. Axel Gonzalez trained alongside their crews to refine gunnery skills, strengthen crew cohesion and demonstrate armored readiness in support of NATO deterrence efforts along the eastern flank. 🪖

Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 501st Aviation Regiment, Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Armored Division, conducted a combined change‑of‑command and change‑of‑responsibility ceremony at Fort Bliss, Texas, May 28, 2026.
Capt. Meghan Guerrera relinquished command to Capt. Benjamin Baumgartner, and 1st Sgt. Edwin Caliz assumed responsibility from 1st Sgt. Jesse Boaz. The event highlighted the company’s continued focus on readiness and the Soldiers who drive the mission. 💪🪖
